Names of the books shortlisted for this year’s Man Booker Prize was made public today. Debutants George Saunders, Fiona Mozley, and Emily Fridlund have secured a place in this list of six.
The absence of American author Colson Whitehead’s The Underground Railroad in the final selection has shocked many. Especially since it earned prestigious awards like the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for fiction, the 2016 National Book Award for fiction and the Arthur C Clarke award for science fiction.
The Man Booker is the world’s most prestigious English-language literary award and the winner is guaranteed a huge increase in global sales that dwarfs the £50,000 prize.
Here is the list of the contenders. Do let us know in the comments section how many of these have you already read and how many will you run to buy.
